Hours & Policies

Hours:   8:00 AM-3:00 PM
Policies: Book Checkout: Parents may check out as many books as needed for a project or as many as can be read at one time provided there are no overdue books or fines. Students can have up to five books out at a time, or may check out more if needed for a project with permission. Books may be renewed provided there are no holds on the book.
  Overdues & Fines: There is no fine for an overdue book, however, if a book is lost or damaged, the cost to replace that book will be due. Due to the special library binding, processing and cataloging of our books, we can not accept replacement books, only the fine to replace the book. All books must be returned by the end of the school year for inventory.
  ALA Policies: We adhere to the American Library Association's policies on the Library Bill of Rights, and the Freedom to Read.
  District Policies: We adhere to all district media policies such as selection policy, book reconsideration, and collection development.
Library Birthday Book Club:

Celebrate your child's birthday by joining the Library Birthday Book Club! Return this form the month of your child's birthday with a $20.00 donation and your child will be able to select a new book from the library, receive a special nameplate in the book, be the first to check out the book, and appear on the morning news show! Subscription Databases and E-Books

The following links are to the subscription databases provided by the district. To obtain the user name and password, please ask Mrs. Miller.
On-line encyclopedia that includes a comprehensive biography section and a  workplace section for students to organize their research.
Includes Gale databases including: Kids Infobits, Gale Infotrac, Junior Reference Section, "What to Read Next," and Health and Wellness Resource Center.
Great database from Proquest for geography and cultural information. Includes a site for world cultures, a kids' edition, and a states edition.
Big Chalk professional education collection for elementary schools
eLibrary Curriculum Edition. Includes more than 1,500 magazines, newspapers, reference works, transcripts, maps, images, Web links and audio and video sources
Database of US History from Encyclopedia Britannica
Geographic database for information on places and an extensive map collection

NoodleBib is a wonderful FREE tool (for grades 1-5) for students to use to format their citations in MLA format. In an easy-to-use form for either print or electronic-based resources, students enter their information on their resource, click submit, and NoodleBib formats their citations for their bibliography. Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program is an opportunity for students in grades 3-5 to read quality books from the selected list during the school year, and then vote for their favorite book. Students from across the state participate, and its always such fun to see if the book selected by Chaffee Trail students is the same as is selected by other Florida students!
